Hi all, I purchased my new G320, which I thought was the latest up to date product only a few weeks ago and now I see there is already new G500 version.

What are the differences between the two?

Hi

I e-mailed the sales team with the same question after I bought my unit and after 4 days the G320 had changed to the G500 on the shotmiser web page. The answer I got is that it is exactly the same unit but because the G320 was getting confused with the S320 (Snoopers version) they decided to re-market it as the G500. I believe an e-mail from Shotmiser is going to be sent to G320 customers to explain?

Can anyone confirm this question. Is the shotmiser G500 exactly the same hardware as the s230 but just newer updated software that shows the map of the course as well?

Hello the s230 otherwise known as the Shotmiser G300 is a different model to the G500 (G320). However the software that runs on both models is exactly the same.

So if my model on the back above the serial number says S3200. What model would you say this is?  Its just i'm a bit unsure, as the 'shotmiser' branding on the front of the unit is just a sticker and the first time I used it on friday the battery level was down to one bar after a 3 hr 15 min round of golf and it supposed to be 12 hr of use.

Apart from the concern I have the unit's performance has been absolutely spot on regards the yardages shown and the info it gives. Especially on doglegs on unknown courses or when you miss a fairway and don't have any 150 yrd marker to help you out. And then there's also the front middle and back yardages which can be a 2 or even 3 club difference between been at the front of the green or the back. I suppose I could go on and on.

Can you confirm some information I have been given regarding the g500 compared to the g300 model is that it's considerably quicker at downloading course info & also initialising the device once selecting between courses.

Thanks

Hi

The G500 (G320) hardware unit is made by Snooper which is a different company to Shotmiser. Snooper make the hardware unit for optimiser who then load it with their own software. The confusion comes because Snooper use the same hardware unit on a product called the S320 but load it with their own golf positioning software. Optimiser changed the name of their unit to G500 because people were confusing the two products. To add further confusion a number of Optimiser G320 units were sold with the hardware badged as S320 (as was mine), it has the Snooper logo and a Snooper S320 serial number, but the software loaded on it is Optimiser's golf positioning system so apart from the label it functions as a G500 (G320).

As for the battery life, the unit comes with the screen backlight set to always be on, if you set it to 30 seconds in the front settings menu the battery will last a lot longer.

I hope all this helps.

OK lets get this clarified.

Snooper provide Shotmiser with the hardware.
Snooper use the same unit as Optimizegolf (Shotmiser)

Snooper have their own Golf GPS product Called 'Shotsaver' which they distribute on a unit which they called the S320.
Shotmiser use the same unit and is currently called the G500. Previous to this it was called the G320.
People were getting confussed between the two hence why we now box it as the G500. There will be some products out there still branded as a G320. They are one in the same G500/G320. Same hardware same Shotmiser software loaded on to it.

You will find that on the back of all G500 units that there will be a sticker with a product number and stating S320 this is simply snoopers reference to the hardware device and can be ignored.

There is also no difference between the Software on the G300 and G500. Both models use the same software. There is no difference in course download times, speed of use etc. Simply the G500 is replacing the G300 as a device that we and others sell.

NOTE - regarding any links to devices on ebay, we have had a few fraudulant transactions over the last few months and we would recommend steering clear of purchasing any Shotmiser G320/G500's from ebay. As these devices will be classed as stolen goods!
